The Ruby Slippers

Bill Elms in association with Break A Leg Productions presents
A RED-HOT DATE FOR THE RUBY SLIPPERS

SELL-OUT NORTHERN LGBT+ COMEDY MAKES ITS LONDON DEBUT
_______________________________________________________________
It enjoyed standing ovations and rave reviews during its sell-out premiere run in the North West last year. And now The Ruby Slippers is on its way to London for a date at one of the hottest theatres in the West End.  The comedy drama about love, friendship and identity will get its debut at the award-winning Arts Theatre West End on Sun 2 July.
Slap on some lipstick, put on those high heels and get ready for a riotous rollercoaster of emotions at one of the two performances on the day, taking place at 4pm and 7.30pm.
Raz is on top of the world. He’s the owner of his own paradise drag club in Blackpool, The Ruby Slippers, and has met Ryan, the man of his dreams.  However, all is not as it seems. Business is poor, while a rival club – Nine Inches - has opened which threatens to not only steal Raz’s customers but also his star acts, Drag Queens Phoenix and Destiny. And then there is the secret Ryan hides that will change everything.
Are his business and relationship doomed? Or will the power of love win the day?
The comedy drama, created by Break A Leg Productions in association with Bill Elms(Epstein – The Man Who Made The Beatles, Twopence to Cross the Mersey), comes from the pen of writers Emma Culshaw and David Paul and is directed by Craig Ryder, who also stars as Destiny.
The talented cast also includes James Rogerson as Raz, Jamie Paul as Ryan, Debra Redcliffe(Helen), Emma Vaudrey (Laura), and Jordan Simms (Phoenix).
Writers Emma Culshaw and David Paul said: “The play tackles transgender issues and we hope audiences enjoy what we set out to achieve, creating a play full of compassion, humour and outrageous one-liners but with a strong underlying message.”
Co-producer Bill Elms added: “The Ruby Slippers has a great script, great comedy and most of all a great storyline.”
“I’ve been delighted to watch its growth, and now it’s getting the London debut it deserves – and in one of the most exciting spaces in the West End too. London audiences are in for a treat.”

What the critics said…
“A riotous night of entertainment for all… dynamic, accessible and unique theatre… extremely entertaining”
North West End

“It is always satisfying to see a show in its infancy – one that you know will become a nationwide hit”
Literally Reviews

“The action is slick, the delivery is polished, the lines are laugh-out-hilarious and the darker moments are constructed well”
Purple Revolver

The Ruby Slippers is a new show about love, identity and following your dreams, with a true northern warmth and a big gay heart”
Made-Up Liverpool

“An important piece of writing for the LGBT community”

SUCCESSFUL LGBTQ TECHNOLOGY ENTREPRENEURS
DJ
The biggest growth business in the developed world today is the technology industry. A good representation of the LGBTQ community in this industry is important and reflects the community's capability to participate on an equal basis with all others without discrimination.
Several LGBTQ organizations have been created to help ensure the community's participation: StartOut helps entrepreneurs to start their own business while also working to end discrimination in the technology industry through established member chapters around the world; Lesbians Who Tech is a group specifically for the Lesbian community, also through a chapter organization; and Out in Tech is a social networking agency encouraging internships and training in the sector.
Many established technology firms have in-house LGBTQ networking groups. As well, there are conferences and symposiums on a regular basis which cater specifically to the LGBTQ entrepreneurial community.
The largest of today's technology companies were started with the active participation of LGBTQ individuals. Ric Weiland was a co-founder of Microsoft, while Chris Hughes was a co-founder of Facebook. Many smaller firms started by LGBTQ communities have also been successful.

GPN in June 2017 and beyond!😃

Hello,

I trust you are enjoying the Bank Holiday weekend and take advantage of this beautiful sunshine. June will see some changes and notably we are on tour again! We are departing from The Village to pastures fresh and new.

I am looking at venues at the moment that can host us through the year in various location. I recently became a member of Boisdale and still negotiating some good deals for us, we shall go back to Beaufort House Club where on Tuesdays the bottle of Champagne are only £25! on King's Road!

There are other Clubs that I joined too like this little gem in Kings Cross called the Crescent.

I am awaiting confirmation at the moment for our June event on the 15th for the GlassHouse in Camden that is just by the Canal and fully air conditioned, we shall also go back to some old favourites like the Roof Top at the Hilton by the Tower of London and other exclusive venues.

Lots more to come!

Some of you asked at the last meeting about Royal Ascot, if you look below there is a link for it and perhaps next year, we shall organise a trip to it together.

For September, I am introducing an amazing Gay Trip to India! Yes, please see below for more information and click on the image for the full program that is on our newsletter already. Don't forget to check it up, it is full of special offers, freebies and other events.

I am also planning to make a table or two for the Whitefriars Club 150th Anniversary in February 2018 at the Palace of Westminster, it is going to be £200 per person so best save your pennies from now, Champagne reception and meal with fine wines in splendid surrounding in a place that is not open to the public.

Best wishes,

Jean-François.
